Another even I chose to attend was the movie Secret life of bees, Directed and written by Gina Prince-by the wood. Also this movie was a novel before a movie written by Sue Monk Kidd. This is a beautiful movie of how black woman have always taken a motherly roll to all race and age of children. The story and major conflict of the movie was that lily the little white girl lives unhappily with her father who also claims that when lily was a child killed her mother, which devastates her just thinking about it. The next problem for the little girl is that her mid ends up going to jail for confronting three racists, and lily decides to break her out of jail and leave there town. This is when they end up the Boatwright sister’s house which is a black family. Basically the rest of the movie is about the trials and tribulations of lily the maid and the black family. This includes the many good times and the terrible terrible bad things that happen. Then highlight of the movie to me was when Zach is arrested and the sisters begin to mourn, and then lily confesses about her past. Towards the middle to end of movie lily confronts her father and convinces him she should stay in Tiburon. Over all this was a great movie about the irrationality of racism, the power of a female community, and the importance of storytelling. Also the title of the movie at first was kind of not a good title to me at first until I realized at the end of the movie when my date informed me it was foreshadowing.
